A piece of artwork that always struck me when I was younger, reading through Dad's old Computer Gaming World magazines, was this image for QQP's naval war game, The Lost Admiral, from 1991 (illustrated by Mare Downs, for whom this game is seemingly their only credit). Stormy seas, disaster, hard-fought battle, all depicted entirely on the peak of an admiral's cap. The hat has been through Hell, but the part that strikes me the most about this piece is what's going on around the hat: precisely nothing. The dark clouds, the stormy seas, the ship to ship duel, it's all localized exclusively on the hat. The beach itself is calm - whatever conflict befell the Admiral who wore this hat, it's over now, but the hat remembers.
