I'm extremely normal about making playlists. over time I put songs in a playlist that hang together to create some kind of vibe, and then after a while I will spend several months obsessively cutting and reordering tracks, adding new ones, and thinking very hard about words like flow and tension and contrast.
setlist flow is very important to me
this is very fun, even when it sometimes feels like smashing my pumpkin head again a concrete sidewalk. it's a way of being creative, of collecting music I love to share with people, and it feels like a skill I've had to learn and get better at and it's nice to feel like I have gotten better at it.
That being said, I've settled into some patterns. I'd like to experiment more, and break some of my internal rules. maybe care a bit less about creating something perfect. I think I'll learn something from it.
yes I'm aware I should probably just learn to DJ
