Mech Pilot who scans every member of OPFOR for their estranged sibling's genetic sequence
Match. Again. For the eighth time. That couldn't be right. He was looking for his brother. The woman's DNA had been caught up in his scan by accident. He rubbed his temples in frustration as he ran the sequence for a ninth time.
...
"Sorry, come again?" The woman crossed her arms, and tapped her foot in impatience. The pilot had cornered her in a secluded hall of the base to tell her something absolutely absurd.
"We're related."
"Bullshit."
"That's what I thought at first, too! But the DNA is a match."
"First of all, what the fuck? Why and how did you get my DNA?"
"I'm trying to find my brother. I lost him when I was five. He was... two? Three? It's been so long..."
"So you've just been scanning everyone's DNA since?"
The pilot sheepishly rubbed a hand over the back of their neck, "Yeah."
"And our DNA came back a match?"
"Yes. I'm not sure how, though. I only had the one brother, and you're, well..."
"Oh. I think I might know what happened."
"Really?"
"Yeah, I had my suspicions. My parents never told me, but I always thought I might've been adopted. As for your long lost brother... I'm trans."
