@vallerie

i know you can see this because i've got crossposting from cohost -> twitter working! ๐ŸŽ‰

for people from bird app who are curious: i post way less over here, but, the posts are Better(TM)(C)(R)

for people on this website who are curious how I did this - I'm making use of the new RSS feature! i have a cloud server that's just watching my RSS feed, and anything new it finds posted, it'll format up, and do a little tweet announcement about :D

i'm going to try to add some more features, like being able to add a little "shut me up tag", as well as some config options per profile as to if you want shares to be included or not (currently we do include them!) but !!!

proof of concept !!

in reply to @vallerie's post:

If people are curious as to why this can't be done in vanilla cohost.py, and why I need to make patches, here's the NERD TALK

basically - cohost.py currently assumes you're authenticated As a cohost user

this obvs isn't ideal if (like i want to do) want to turn this tool into something where you OAuth with twitter, tell it your cohost username, and it just goes - this method would require you to also give me your Actual Login Credentials, as cohost doesn't have oauth yet

but! RSS doesn't require this! so if we just... poll the RSS feed, we can achieve the functionality of "hey cohost, what's the latest post, and what's it's ID" without being signed in

So! Yes! I'm planning on providing some extra models to cohost.py with this new RssPage, so people can make tools which work without having people Type In Their Usernames
