Once upon a time I wrote some ass-backwards wanky deliberately bad sci-fi satire thing and the girl I liked said something along the lines of "have you considered writing something deliberately good instead or is that too hard" and I don't think the dent in my psyche ever fully went away

Same lady once read one of my short stories and when I explained "I wrote this in a night!" she was all "...yeah... I can definitely tell". Just vaporised by ordnance
she had a good point, unfortunately: it's a far easier target, being "bad" but in a clever way that rises above the general level of badness, than it is to aim for greatness. ~Chara
