I think about what things were like on twitter and how it's different here less and less every day, but I did just reflect on how for years I just stopped talking about things I liked on twitter because as someone with not even a large following1, as the years went on the more I ever put out there about myself and things I enjoyed felt like it was being put out there to be consumed as content, chewed up. Back in the fun days I'd live tweet movies and it'd be real fun for me and I enjoyed people talking to me about whatever it was. I enjoyed the engagement! but god, the fun in that wore out a long time ago.
Another important reason I stopped talking about things I like on twitter is because some fucking guy (gender neutral) would want to talk to me about it and I just want to have fun with my friends about a show we watched, not also navigate some weirdo's overfamiliar playful rudeness.
Anyway now I'm on cohost where I am happy to post "hey man I just watched Lower Decks and it kicked ass" and then when people start talking to me about it I go 'yaaaaay!'

someone once said that the differences in the twitter experiences between 50 followers, 500 followers, 5000 followers, and 50,000 followers are so vast as to basically be like using completely different social media platforms and in my small experience of it jesus christ was that true
