Dealing with such a barrel of image preservation woes. Does anyone know of, for macos: A) A good image deduplicator B) a third party, LOCAL app for processing/viewing images?
A is because I am doing some real fuckery to try to help Erika put photos out of mister mackintosh's slimy grasp and have definitely got some dupes floating around now.
The reason I ask about B is because it appears that mac won't let you view images in a "deck" exactly without having it be managed by Photos, which appears to be database-backed and individual actual files are pretty deliberately difficult to suss out. I have this gnarly ass find I've been using to unbury these files. So I have a ton of stuff in a folder that is NOT managed by Photos.
The real problem with Photos is that appears to be irrevocably tied to iCloud and its hostage-taking levels of storage. So when Erika has tried to remove photos from their phone after thinking they were "safe" on the computer, apple said "oh you deleted it from your phone? Cool we deleted it from Photos and icloud too - that's what you wanted right ππ"
