My car is failing is extremely weird ways, and after like four hours of diagnosing, testing, replacing shit, checking fuses, my mechanic has concluded it's probably the computer itself, a $3000-$5000 fix! So .. I'm going to buy a new car.

Kk gonna go look at two cars today, one in the west hills and one south of Portland, and I'm gonna walk away from both of them and make my mind up L A T E R. The price is on carfax, I shouldn't have to haggle or whatever. What are yr fave car buying tips or extras or whatever to ask about?

Welp in classic Rachel Kelly fashion I bought the first one I tried. I mean, it's classy, the history on it is really good, and it feels pretty good! And it's only gonna be $400/mo. Also it's pretty gay.

Now to figure out how to offload this 2006 Honda Accord.. just did the math and on my loan, I still owe $3500 (prob a hair more but my interest rate from a year ago was hella low), so I'd like to recoup that at least. I have a few venues to try.

  • Sell it on craigslist "perfectly good but won't start, don't know why" and probably some hobbyist will buy it if the price is right, it's a desirable car from a desirable era. But as is, it feels like someone might buy it for a couple grand at the most.
  • Try to find a compatible ECM to swap. Ihni but it seemed like there were some... even plenty? on car-parts.com near me? Would be nice to completely get it going and then try to sell it for its KBB value which is like $4-$6000.
