what happens when you leave a heart untended
when your child sits there wondering when it's their turn
when her sister is always the one who's wounds you care for
and a little girl sits there, scared in ways you can't imagine
hurt in places you would never think
and you never bother to look her way
and you never bother to brush off her tears
you just let her be
she'll never forget what you said to her that night
"i'm sure you'll end up a lot happier then your sister ever will"
that's a lot of responsibility for a little girl to hold
