here is the floor plan for the apartment i'm moving into. it's pretty normal excepting the concrete pillar in the middle of the living room. still not sure what i'm going to do with that. any ideas?
it's also a ground floor unit on a busy street in a city center. this will be interesting as i've never lived in a city before!
If u don't like the concrete pillar u should just take it out. Why not. It's not ur responsibility to keep the ceiling supported that's the architect's job

I was going to say, at least for the next month or so, you could totally disguise it as a christmas tree, sort of like those camoflaged cell phone towers
itās been driving me batty because like, why not make the floor plan accommodate it? you could do the open plan with columns thing, or you could make the floor plan such that the columns are in walls (like two of the columns here are). why do this ????
get a framed picture of a different concrete pillar and hang it on the pillar, maybe a cross-stitch that says "pillar sweet pillar"

Anyway I'd like, decorate the pillar like a maypole. or a tree. or something festive, seasonal. celebrate the pillar. become one with the pillar.
it's such a score for the location but that pillar is going to drive me batty (even if i love it)
we used to have one of those in our old apartment and we put fairy lights spiraling up it to give it a cute cozy feel

decorate it! use mounting tape to get some hooks on it and then use those hooks to string things around the room
