I've basically had cookies turned off on youtube for... 4 years now? Maybe more? So all youtube knows about me is my current search and NOTHING else.
It shoves you every type of garbage. Fake shit, right wing shit, "grotesque-but-encourages-morbid-curiosity" shit like whatever medical show is on TLC now shit. And there's a few dozen big channels it pushes EXTREMELY hard, like whoever the fuck mr beast is1. If you look up anything remotely related to a computer you can't get three videos without seeing Linus "No one will ever fire me no matter how bad I get" tips with his mouth wide open holding either a very expensive or very old computer part. Look up how to clean an old carb and you get do not media videos, etc etc etc. It ramps the engagement baiting up to 11 and shows it's whole ass and the worst part is that's how they greet everyone new to the site. Unless they have reason to bait you less, that's what they want to get. It stinks.
Once again I will endorse freetube. You can turn on watch history there, or not. Up to you.
If you doubt my stick-in-the-mud methods, I genuinely don't know who the fuck he is past "some youtuber with chocolate bars and no tact" and honestly anyone in the top tier of channels like that qualifies for the latter so that part is kinda cheating.
