in reply to @wintersouls's post:

I'm a writer. Have pretty much written since I can remember. I've been published by a (small) corporation, and the process sucked. Took six months, and I literally made about $40 after all was said and done. I also helped two different people self-publish, and they didn't make ANYTHING.

I still write, presumably for the same reason you make your own art, but my advice is basically the same as @honeybees's - put it out there, let people read and enjoy it. There are indie zines if you want to see it on paper, or you can make your own digital zine via itch.io or even here if you don't like the ones she suggested, but the actual important thing is to get your creations out into the world where they can make other people go "wow, I like that." Even if it's just one person, even if it's just your fiancee seeing the thing in a final form, it's taking something you've made and giving it wings.

@honeybee 's advice was very practical and i appreciate that side of things

whereas your advice hit something a little deeper and i really appreciate that as well

i think part of my struggle is that i've been getting so caught up in the "right way" to publish a story that i forgot that i can simply just... share it. the work i posted about was originally an assignment from uni, and i never intended to make any money off of it so sharing it for free honestly isn't a stretch for me

"Even if it's just one person, even if it's just your fiancee seeing the thing in a final form, it's taking something you've made and giving it wings." This line in particular is going to stick with me; thank you for that
