Fatelines are a eugenicist pseudo-scientific ranking system for determining a person's karmic relevance/narrative impact. They are used to determine things like job eligibility and ability to access housing. Fatelines are complete bullshit but they are something that The Powers That Be in Spear of Heaven care a lot about. Agentic Fatelines are considered extremely prestigious and/or threatening and dangerous. Heller has the Fateline "Bleak" which is the lowest rank social rank.
The ranks of fateline in order are: Bleak -> Vestigial -> Extant -> Agentic -> Karmic
Karmic Fatelines are internally considered extinction level threats by the government. It is important to me that I impress that Fatelines are entirely pseudoscientific and are like if you made policy decisions based on astrology.
