There are eighteen Magic: the Gathering cards with the creature type "Praetor".

Sixteen of them represent the Phyrexian Praetors-- that is, the big boss bad guys in a certain plane.

One of them is Sanguine Praetor, which got type errata when the type "Praetor" was introduced to the game and is relatively unremarkable.

But I guarantee you are not prepared for the eighteenth.

This is Ebon Praetor, one of the most bizarre Magic cards I know of, and certainly the strangest card to belong in a group with like notable big bad guys. It, too, got type errata when the type "Praetor" was introduced to the game-- so although its card doesn't say it's a Praetor (and never will, since it's on the Reserved List)-- it is in fact a Praetor.

First of all, that art. I love this massive bunny, with a standardized reference demon for scale. I love the grim look on this bunny's face because it's an evil bunny. I love green demon and the blue... creature? I asked my partner what she thinks is going on here, and her response was "a wedding.... no, a divorce. They're fighting for custody of the blue one."

Second of all, this card uses not one, but two different nonstandard counters. Other than Frankenstein's Monster it's the only card that does this. A -2/-2 counter is extremely funny, also, because it is not the same as "two -1/-1 counters". Notably, if there were two -1/-1 counters and two +1/+1 counters on a creature they would all get removed from the creature; if there are two +1/+1 counters and a -2/-2 counter on a creature they stay on, making a mess.

Also, I love how tacked-on the +1/+0 counter ability is. Like, the additional power does affect the game, because this card for some reason has first strike and trample, but I love the bean-countiness of putting on a second kind of not-very-important counter if you're playing Thrulls.

Speaking of which-- first strike and trample? It's not unheard of for a big black creature to have these abilities, but it is the only black creature to have both (other than some silly cards that you can't play in tournaments. It's honestly a bizarre combination of abilities, and the card is guaranteed to have combat take several minutes as you repeatedly calculate that it's a 4/3... wait, no, hold on, I sacrificed a Thrull this turn, it's a 5/3... Yeah, no, it has first strike, I'll let you take that block back if you want. Or, no, wait, if I sacrificed a Thrull I should remove a -2/-2 counter, so it's a 7/5...

This bunny has so many useless records, unique properties, et cetera. It is the Tommy Tallerico of Magic: the Gathering. Please take a moment to appreciate the eighteenth Praetor.
