I'm in London for the weekend. I went to the Cartoon Museum. Two things about cartoons:

  1. A really good cartoon is a beautiful thing. So much detail and craft and love and humour poured into artworks which were sometimes only meant to be published once in a daily newspaper. I only had an hour before closing time but I could have looked at these for a day. I've posted photos of some of my favourites.

  2. British political cartoonists are vile and should not be allowed. I didn't take a photo but there's a 70s anti-strike cartoon that was so cruel that, so says the nearby plaque, the printers refused to publish the newspaper until they added a column next to the cartoon detailing the printers' objections. Also, there are multiple buttholes on exhibition, including the one that greets you at the door. The modern British idea of satire is "What if the Prime Minister was fat and naked, and you could see his butt? And what if his butt was farting?"

Anyway then I went to a Thai cafe and had the best egg fried rice I've ever eaten. A good afternoon.
