Maybe this is just a games thing but I'm always perplexed how every company I work at never seems to have their build system in order.

Time and time again it's always a source of consternation.

On the other hand, once a project has passed the bar of thing-I'm-going-to-actually-finish I get deployment set up and keep ensuring I have green builds along the way.

So I've worked on a lot of live service games and this legitimately keeps me up at night sometimes.

Like I understand, as a player, why a person might think it's insane to mourn the loss of the catalogue of mediocre mobile games from a defunct mobile game developer. But if someone wanted to do an in depth study of early 2010's monetization in mobile games before loot boxes were essentially made the standard, I think they'd be hard pressed to find much of any information beyond the top 2-3 games.

Is that something someone would want to study? I don't know. But that's an example of a door that is completely closed to all future humans forever now.
