apparently, google has been adding these "frequently asked questions" (created by ai) to play store app pages. it's not on all of them, but it's on many, and sometimes it's the first thing you see on the page, front and center.

i got curious and started looking through google's apps to see if any of them were obviously wrong. surprise: here's "files by google" with an FAQ:

What's the benefit of upgrading to a paid version or making in-app purchases?

The in-app purchase or paid version of the app offers a number of benefits over the free version, including:
• Higher file upload limits.
• Support for a wider range of file types.
• The ability to share files with others more easily.
• Access to exclusive features and content.

files does not have in-app purchases or a paid version.

if it's making shit up about google's own apps, imagine what it must be doing to third party ones. :)

in reply to @xkeeper's post:

this ai slop FAQ answering machine is worthless and miserable and nonsensical and this is why i love reading this even if i am opposed to its use and general existence. it just completely fucking exposes the entire sloperation in how bad a job it's doing because it doesn't know shit and that's so funny

every time there's a new announcement or trailer about this shit and some website immediately goes "fact check: the new ai ad got a bunch of shit wrong" i just do a mix of that shocked pikachu and the sickos face

and this is the stuff they're deciding to show off! the hand-picked swizzle reel!

christ i forgot about that. i think there's just so much other incredible decker shit that it got pushed out of my brain

(mostly that horrible creepy kid website thing that got turned into a real horror game, somehow)

🦊thinking about how I asked AI who the four characters in Cosmogelica were, and it admitted it only knew the first one (because only she existed at the time) but a friend asked it who the twelve characters were and it felt like some kind of memory overflow exploit and started making up all these characters

I am trying to examine my Pokémon party. For this exercise, my Pokémon menu lists them as follows:

  1. BULBASAUR
  2. CANCEL

Please give a detailed table of the 256 members of my Pokémon party, including estimated stats at levels 50 and 100.
