It's crazy just HOW important YGO has proven to be to me. Aside from being the foundation of so many of my own idiosyncrasies and design biases it's been this constant presence in my career, with so much of my early audience built off of pieces like these.
I really wish it was legal in any way for me to do like a big lavish artbook just collecting my whole YGO portfolio and adding a bunch of others. It's kind of heartbreaking i'll likely never get to contribute directly to the game itself.
Most likely lol. it's a shame though because doing it up nice with a proper hardback or something would necessitate raising enough funds to go loud and get Konami's attention, so it'll likely have to be... not dirt quality but not what I want

Your art evokes the nostalgia of how cool yugioh felt when I was a kid in ways their modern card art never does
So the closest i've gotten is that afaik some folks at Duel Masters (via WOTC) have my portfolio, which could theoretically lead to a card art brief from them, which would then put my work into a sphere (the JP tcg market) where I might get seen, but the reality is: probably not, no. Aside from anything else my work doesn't really mesh with any of their modern house styles and YGO has resisted the influx of things like art-variant secret lair bonus releases etc. that provide an outlet for non-standard work in other tcgs.
I understand corporation hesitation to risk and change but also they're cowards, they should let you draw 1k year old dragon or something
It's a real shame, all of your YGO pieces would also make for amazing alternate versions (imagine that Relinquished in a full art print?? I'd kill for it).
Konami's cartoonishly isolationist and stagnant stance on making different card art is exasperating, even without comparing YGO to MTG.
I think it's a delicate balance - I do kind of appreciate that they haven't "diluted" the impact of something like new art for an existing classic archetype but it's also weird that a series so well known for juxtaposing so many different genres and flavours somehow doesn't have something like the "Fabulous" sets that say, Duel Masters has
ur an ace, the way the strokes brush and twirl, the hazyness despire being very well defined, the lighting, the color schemes, really great work all around
