This feels like a facile answer but it's genuinely Shin, followed by Vs Biollante, but only the imaginary version of the film that exists in my head where they actually used the haunting cel animated segment they deleted from the original release. In similar fashion i'm heartbroken that Shin's cut third act humanoid Godzilla gestalt spawn aren't more than a pan down Takeya's achingly beautiful maquette but the art that survives of them from pre-production lives in my heart forever.
