I mean the dream is Yu-gi-oh - the game I play the most, the game that historically influenced me enormously artistically, the game which continues to inspire me 20 years after I first encountered it. I have scores of YGO pieces in my fanart portfolio already and the influence in stuff as fundamental as my rendering style and taste in design is enormously evident. The likelihood of actually getting to do card art for them though is.... almost zero. I have an actual presence in the JP art sphere via being mutuals with a coupla relatively high profile industry folks on twitter and now through the JP release of Slave Zero X/the overseas fandom, but I don't think that really moves the needle on a company like Konami who already have more than enough internal contracted folks to work on YGO sets without having to navigate the minefield of hiring me, an overseas contractor with only rudimentary Japanese, even if Masami Obari can vouch for me lmao.
