Anonymous User asked:

How did you build the work ethic that you have?

If I have a work ethic worth emulating (And I think it could be a lot better than it is) it's driven by a very deep pleasure taken out of the simple act of rendering and working in and of itself. I legitimately prefer to sit down and paint listening to something with a drink over like the vast majority of other possible uses of my time (Well... MOST of them...) so it's an easy ask of myself in that sense. I reinforced that by giving myself a complex about updating tumblr with a new finished illustration every day for like 4 years straight, which gave me the ability to finish anything if I force myself to but also stunted my development hugely - drawing/working every day is insanely valuable and I literally haven't gone a day without drawing/painting SOMETHING since maybe 2012 but the key thing is using that time wisely. My work ethic nowadays is about working smarter not harder - it's "easy" to turn my brain off and plow through rendering for hours, it's hard to do a study or plot out a thumbnail or think consciously about what i'm doing, and it's hard to forge outside of my comfort zone. The work ethic i'm trying to develop is one that can support more of that.
