[ DIVINE DUST AND GENTLE FEVER]

[After three days crossing the cathedral main atrium, you stop at the shrine of a minor Dragon Saint, who has lain here for 366 years. The incense is heavy and the smell of ritual salt and tobacco, heavier.]

An Eight Track Mixtape - Playlist Here

This is an experiment born out of my current weird malaise and my efforts to extricate myself from it and get back to the work I need to be doing. I've been like singularly obsessed with the idea of making music solely to justify painting album covers for ages and somehow I finally twigged that I can just curate a mixtape track list and do exactly that. This one's intended to capture the very specific mix of comfort, awe and unease I get in the presence of "relics" or preserved bodies in holy places in general. I'm endlessly fascinated, dating back to seeing a sokushinbutsu (Using the Japanese term bc i'm not sure what the Thai equivalent of a Buddhist auto-mummy is) in Thailand as a child, with the space where the divine becomes a tangible entity, a physically existing saint or deity that can be perceived directly..
