Study I painted from photos I took at the British Museum of a Tara statue - Tara is a goddess with a whole range of depictions who appears in Mahayana Buddhist traditions. In the Tibetan school (This specific statue isn't Tibetan) she's divided into a host of Taras identified by colour, and is described as having sprung forth from the eye of the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara

Seriously been enjoying Nihei's newest, Tower Dungeon - it really does feel like a successful synthesis of his older work and what I loved about it plus the more "approachable" elements of his post Biomega career. I really can't get enough of the "Draco-metamorphs" from TD - there's a specific one who just looks like a levitating cicada-shaped plate armoured knight and another that's a kind of feral Cell. I adore it. Obviously Nihei's effortless atmosphere and scale/setting are heavily in evidence too!
