TIL that rugelach, a very nice fingerfood dessert, is pronounced "rugula" which in this region of USA English is the world's quietest preceding vowel away from arugula, a leafy green notable for being 1) spicy 2) the only leafy green that I actively hate.
I found this out in the context of someone cheerfully declaring "I got you a treat!" and presenting me with an opaque paper bag.
(The rugelach were delicious and I plan to agitate on getting more from this restaurant some day.)
