Island Sanctuary is mostly a pleasant little silly-sidegame thing for me to do, but god, I really wish SE hadn't coded the most commonly lucrative recipes to use massive quantities of the second-worst resource to gather on the entire island.1 Relatedly, the Overseas Casuals workshop recommendations for the week are live and the thread is in shambles because we're opening with 36 laver.

  1. The worst, of course, is Islefish, because while laver is really not good at least you CAN perform a continuous gathering loop including it. Islefish? You can mount up in the middle of the loop to swim over to the other half of the nodes if you want it so bad, and go to hell while you're at it.

in reply to @wobblegong's post:

Rock Salt is rather famously bad but I dunno, despite that it simply is not A Problem I Want To Orbitally Bombard. I think the combo of lower overall use + somewhat less curse'd to get from expeditions offsets the fact that you can't cleanly loop it.

Also, unlike the wet bastards, you can perform a very evil cheese with Rock Salt to pile it up comparatively fast: every time you enter Duty Finder and come back out it respawns all island nodes, so you can camp in the loaded cave and just hit all the nodes in between roulettes if you want to feel like you're getting away with something. (Rock Salt is arguably even the only resource this is worth doing for: nobody else has the density without just having an easy loop nearby!)

Ok but I'm not doing any roulettes. I'm doing island sanctuary. It has been the only thing in this game I have been motivated to do consistently for a long time (besides maps nights with the boys). Thanks for the tip though :3

Mammet #1: Are we on strike again? The workshops haven't gotten any orders in all week
Mammet #2: Nope, beats me why we haven't got any work. I saw the big guy come in, look at the inventory and then snap his harpoon clean in half.
Mammet #1: Oh.
Mammet #2: You can hear the weeping from the bungalow all the way here.
