I mostly never got into miniatures wargames (Warhammer etc) because they fail so spectacularly to cater to my Aesthetic™ with enough consistency to bother, but I also carry the vivid memory circa age thirteen of being casual online friends with a dude stationed in Alaska who played them and described such games as "a fun hobby, but crack would be cheaper". I have never once in the intervening years been able to contemplate such games without being haunted by the price tag required for a playable army.

my roommate keeps trying to get me into warhammer but the price is too daunting... and then the price of paints, extra tools to help paint, etc. such a high barrier of entry... the small army i have right now is only thanks to said roommate buying my models for me i do not have the money to sustain this hobby

It kills me!! The cost up front to buy JUST the naked miniatures makes me wheeze, but the whole idea is then you'll paint them (primer + paint + brushes!! I was an art kid, I'm aware how intensely Not Free those are!!!) and store/transport them safely (I have never in my life met something in the genre of a toolbox that could do its job without costing Money) and none of this was cheap when I was a broke 13yo long long ago before inflation took off like a rocket! :host-nervous:

And that's not even getting into how often this buying power translates to game power because you need lots of the right units to win and the culture has a strong curve towards "if you don't have a nice minifig of the unit to put on the table, you're not allowed to play the unit, get lost with those placeholder chits/tokens"

Those dragon figurines are sick as hell tho :eggbug-pleading:

But are the miniatures used in Kill Team kawaii as shit? There is a look™ I require.

[EDIT] to say after a quick gllgoe, oh I think this is one of those alternates/variant rulesets I've heard mentioned where someone clearly asked "what if we did Warhammer but you didn't need to take out a loan to finance enough army to Actually Play?" Good shit for what it is!

😂 Being honest, I wasn't exactly expecting something named KILL TEAM to be running the look™ I require!

It's nice to put a name to one of the Warhammer variants I've vaguely heard of, though. r/hobbydrama is, per the name, more focused on drama than clean explanations of offerings within a hobby, so the Warhammer/GW-oriented posts tend to, uh, rarely make time to name and explain the options outside the version everyone's heard of.
