Thinkin' about the assertion that "photography killed photorealistic painting" and how that's not 100% true. There stopped being much commerical/etc demand for it, absolutely. It's not something people get into on purpose to make a traditional career out of anymore. But as an art form it's still practiced by some artists. And if anything that's made photorealistic painting more impressive, more shocking and beautiful to encounter, because we're all aware that "you could have taken a photo instead"– to see such effort, something so difficult nevertheless achieved, is breathtaking.
