Confidential to cohost: some very alt-tab missclicks led to me discovering the power of the FramedBlocks mod in this pack. In short, it lets you pick out a kind of object/block– a door, a fence, a slab, whatever– and place a shitty scaffold version... which you can then right-click with a regular block to copy the regular block's texture to it. It struggles with special tiling rules like the "Clear" Stained Glass I'm using for my windows, hence my door gaining a grid look, and it doesn't want to copy the texture of stuff which isn't block-shaped. But considering nothing else in the game or modpack can really keep up with my rainbow concrete look, I am thrilled.
Now this is good for aesthetics, but this is even better for being a fucker.
Besides the egregious amounts of rainbow the point of this build is to make a lot of rooms that are connected in obnoxious and indirect ways. In short, I want to make a maze to annoy my friends with. So far I'd been limited to dead ends and zigzags, but this opens up something far worse: fake walls. Example: here's a spot where you come down some stairs and immediately hang a right to go down more stairs. (This is not the only such staircase in this build.)
Surprise! One of those landing walls is a door!
This takes you to a short dead end, but it's a pretty productive one: a spot to heal your Pokemon and even swap your team around.
Note that despite my evil little gremlin tendencies I tend towards "I don't want anyone to get actually frustrated/annoyed" so in a lot of places/situations I would lean away from this. But here we have a block demystifier mod built in, so if you look at a secret door it'll announce "that's a Framed Door!" right there in the UI. Just gotta make that perception check, which feels fair to me. ;3
Now I just have to redo all the stairwells with my newfound powers! (The old stairs block choice was desperation to get something approximately as rainbow in.)
