I cannot STAND having more than like 5 tabs open if I'm not directly working on something. If there's enough tabs that the names start compressing on the side of the browser window, it's time to take a few out back

(Same with bookmarks. My bookmarks bar can only be three neatly organized folders and less than four loose sites.. Maybe I have the opposite problem?)

I'm not sure there's a direct opposite to what I have going on, but that is a pretty interesting counterpoint! (Not even bookmarks?! Hardcore....)

For me the tabs are one of many disability aids: I store thoughts, pending stuff, and other Things I Am Capable of Forgetting in tab form, because scrolling through my tabs at some point will make me see it and it'll trigger a full recall of whatever I was doing there. (I have a highly positional memory in general; there's a lot of analog versions of this too.)

The downside is that if my ability to process stuff gets too low, the tabs begin stacking up. My old "normal" was the 200-500 tab range, so I leave it as an exercise for the reader how 2023 has been going for me.
