Staring at a "tell us about your OC!" meme and confronting the realization that my power fantasy is a character who has a steady bedtime and is polite to people and actively works to lead a happy, uneventful life. "Total wizard at math! Is not a picky eater. Has the ideal number of friends, none of whom suck." These are my unrealistic fantasies and nobody puts them on charts because they are widely condemned as boring, but I cling to them anyways.

Same, actually! I love fantasy and certain types of sci-fi and whatnot, but a good apartment and a few friends that care about each other hits a lot closer. Maybe it's because it feels so much more possible and hopeful than less reality-anchored genres?
I think it's also because different characters are meant for different roles and stories... a horror movie and a coffee shop AU are trying to make you think and feel different things, y'know? So the characters they'd want to use aren't going to be the same.
My inclinations for my OCs is towards fluff and less drama/stakes just because that's what I like when left to my own devices. (To make, I should say– what I enjoy reading/viewing/etc from other people has no shortage of action!) So no surprise my characters end up like... this. But it's a bit opposite the most common faves, so meme charts and the like don't really fit me, which is funny. X)
