"Did I run out of water and get too distracted to fix it for awhile and now I'm thirsty?" is not the ONLY troubleshooting for my problems, but it's interesting how often it helps.
And by "it's interesting" I mean, one of the things my parents got sooooooo right back in my larval days was that whenever I started getting too cantankerous they did an "are you thirsty are you hungry do you need a nap" check and yeah that was it 80%+ of the time.
The only reason the rate is lower in adulthood is that I have the power and knowledge to schedule breaks/snacks before the problem escalates to I HATE EVERYTHING AAAAH. But it's still the fix fairly often!
