I think the most frustrating thing about the pandemic is that despite COVID's sheer fucking bastardry and optimization into the "invisible sprinter that kindles new infections before you even realize it's there" niche– and make no mistake, it is extremely opimized for that– it's actually really easy to curtail further infections. Over and over again I've heard of people finding out someone in the home was infected, taking even the most half-assed basic procedures, aaaaand... nobody else catching it!
COVID is an aerosol and aerosols are total bullshit. But compared to capital bastards like tuberculosis or measels, COVID has the infectuous prowess of a wet noodle and seems to rely entirely on stealth/surprise so victims will get dosed out the wazoo. Glancing exposure won't do shit, you need to get a really good whiff for it to take. I knew someone whose spouse didn't rapid-test positive until they'd been symptomatic for possibly a day or two, thinking it was allergies, but even that late in the game they switched to sleeping in different rooms, isolated for several days, and... no spousal spread!
If you ventilate at all– and I mean elementary shit like "opening some windows"– COVID will probably lose. Mask up and its chances gain some more leading zeroes. There's no such thing as "guaranteed safe" but compared to a lot of airborne diseases? COVID is a loser virus you can pwn with box fans and patience. You just have to do that much.
