I keep thinking I should post some kind of review of Loddlenaut since, y'know, I played it an alright bit! But it suffered from some gnarly "wrong place/wrong time" relative Paleo Pines for me (which may well go down as one of my favorite games of my entire life) so I don't feel like my review would be as glowing as it deserves, though no fault of its own.
I suppose the summary of my complaints which wouldn't even exist if I hadn't been lost in the dino sauce before starting are: it's on the shorter side for a full-size game (usually good!) and the looping/replayability wasn't quite to my tastes– instead of feeling like I had things to do (positive) I felt like either I had nothing to do or else I had too much to do oh god I'm behind aaah. Also, and this is maximum unfair, I was hoping the loddle mechanics would be a little more multidimensional because SA2B Chao Garden lives in my heart. (There's still quite a bit of loddle mechanics! This is a tremendously unfair complaint!)
But on the upside, the story themes get an aggressive thumbs up from me, the aesthetic is quite good, the loddles are cute as heck and playing through to "the end" was paced nicely. It's an excellent little indie title that is more polished than I expected and totally worth playing if it sounds like it appeals. I think it's a solid contender for GOTY for leetol-fren enthusiasts give or take personal taste!
