back in 2001 a canadian band called smoother released An Album and had An Single and it got a music video that was of so little note that you couldn't find it online for years and years. it rematerialized on youtube a few years ago and yeah, this is about how i remember

but the last time i watched it was 22 years ago, at which time I didn't know what "non-zoomed video stabilization" looked like. now i do, and it seems really likely to me that they shot all the racing footage in one day, then got the footage back to the studio and went "oh shit, this is all unusable, we can't afford to rent the track for another day, and if we stabilize with zoom it'll be the size of a postage stamp," then they thought about it for a bit and said "just do it non-zoomed, and then fuck with the edges of all the other clips so it looks like we intended it"

this feels like the horrific progenitor of how a lot of youtubers will make random on screen visual elements subtly shake around for no reason
