i am really proud of how the spacy marbling turned out on all three of these. i think it replicates the classic look of space telescope images really nicely. but always when i take pictures of my sculptures i am stuck between presenting them in the best light, or in a realistic light - very literally in this case. these elephants do look like this in person. they don't need any digital editing help to look this way. at the same time, they're made up of mixes of semi-transluscent clays and glazed with special finishes (shimmery for this one, iridescent and pearlescent for the other two respectively). the combo really shines through under bright studio lights (or is it the light shining through? ha), though by studio lights i mean the one singular wonky, warped metal desk lamp i found in the damp shed at my old house seven years ago which trembles like a chihuahua and unscrews the bulb whenever i try to rotate it. it is not a hard setup to replicate. but without it, this is not exactly what the elephants look like, on a normal day hanging out on a shelf in a dark corner.
