why does that sigma 60-600mm sports lens have to be like $1800. there should just be somewhere i can go and say "i would like to have one of these so i can take better pictures of the birds at the park" and they give me one

maybe but let’s just say i’m not convinced that’s the right match for my fifty megapixel modern DSLR
(if i was gonna cheap out i’d probably get the sigma 50-500 since it’s got autofocus but i unfortunately really do care about IS and optical performance)
also I do have 500mm manual focus already if i want that. actually i probably should go down to the park with that lens one of these days and see if i can make anything of it
oh! i don't know anything about digital cameras. sounds fancy
basically it’s got autofocus that lets you decide whether you’d like to pinpoint the head or the wings on the bird as it’s flying around and enough resolution that you don’t have to “pixel peep” to tell how sharp a lens is because it’s absurdly in-your-face obvious if the lens isn’t tack-sharp the moment you zoom in to 1:1.
unlike the vast majority of cameras in existence this one does actually get something out of the ridiculous sports glass
