voltage follower -> unity-gain differential amplifier -> variable-gain differential amplifier -> ADC. 2nd and 3rd stages have adjustable voltage offsets (driven by LM317 regulators) and the gain stage is adjustable to about 30x. checked the design in SPICE against the CCD output waveform i'm working with here and it works a treat (and even if it doesn't, i'm putting it on a separate board so i can just redesign and replace the whole module)
also oh my goodness look at em they're just a little guy (about 30 mm square)
