at dinner and now in times past i would say things like “well denny’s is still open (as denny’s is open twenty-four hours a day except for last sunday when they were open twenty-five and i can’t even blame staying up late on it) and they’re on doordash so a solution to this problem is only twenty dollars away” but today i have not ordered the doordash denny’s (even though they are open twenty-four hours a day) because in celebration of having actually bothered to go to the store yesterday to get milk i was intending to cook a box of easy macaroni and cheese (the kind with box art that implies a busy parent could come home from work and use it to feed their several children (but i use it to feed one wolf who has stayed up too late)) and of course the kitchen in my house is open twenty-four hours a day as well (one one thousand forty-four hundredth better than the denny’s on doordash since architectural limitations mean they must actually be “closed” for one minute a day (and they didn’t even choose the minute that lets them skip it when the time changes back (i bet that breaks everything if you try it))) so today i am exhibiting some personal growth by making midnight mac and cheese in spite of my inner desire to order a burger or possibly some kind of steak sandwich or hashbrown-bearing creation that always seems really good until about the second bite (the macaroni and cheese will be nothing spectacular either but it is certainly more economical which provides one with some incentive to suck it up) so ultimately the mac and cheese will only provide me with about $2.50 of food related disappointment instead of $20
anyways, it’s a beautiful night out. i’m looking forward to sleeping through most of it.
