my boss's boss: oh one other thing today u came to the 8 in the morning global standup meeting1 and instead of talking about what you were working on you complained about your coffee machine being broken2 and it got kinda awkward
me: yeah that sure is a thing that happened. i mean i dunno what you expect i spent a good ten minutes trying to think of something less dumb to say and i failed
my boss's boss: look nobody's like come to me and complained or anything but there are a lot of people who don't work with you regularly on that call and i wouldn't want them to get the wrong impression
me: i assure you i have no problem with people getting the impression that i am not a morning person
1we do a weekly "go around the room and talk about what you're working on" and usually it is at a reasonable time but sometimes it is at an unreasonable time to allow for people in other time zones to attend
2the coffee machine is not actually broken but it is trending in that direction and either way the coffee was not particularly effective today
