using 1/ƒ rounded down as my slowest-shutter-speed metric. my experience is that this is accurate if i make sure to concentrate on steadying the camera at the slowest shutter speed
i want to shoot some ISO 0.8 film handheld and i was considering purchasing a sub-24mm lens on advice that it's easier to go shorter than faster but i actually ran the numbers just now and it turns out that a) it's sort of a wash (in fact the 50mm ƒ/1.2 has the lowest handholdable EV here out of any of them except the unobtainium 24mm ƒ/1.4) and b) sunny 16 rule says i should only need to go down to EV 8 outdoors on a good day so literally any of these lenses will work. hopefully i'll go out and shoot that roll soon
addendum: i suppose it would also work to put my EF mount 24mm ƒ/1.4 (third party) on my eos rebel ii but i hate that camera so i probably won't
