canon dial 35-2 (half frame), superia 400. left side is my previous Epson V600 scan, right side is what's coming off the Super Coolscan 4000 ED. both frames processed using negative lab pro on about the same settings

i don't think i really even have to point out any differences? the V600 scan looks like a still frame from an ancient 16mm movie and the Coolscan 4000 frame looks like it could have come out of one of my digital cameras if it weren't for the film grain. sharpness, color rendition, and shadow detail are so much better, plus I've got a working Digital ICE workflow now so there's way less dust and crap
