It was after watching this panel from Critical Resistance "Abolition and the Liberation of Palestine", that I became interested into digging deeper into the connections.
The "what to do" part of this panel felt particularly important. Sometimes folks have trouble articulating actions when talking about abolition, the action is more along the lines of "plug in with a local group already chipping away at something".
Here, the panelists emphasised two points. First, that Americans can disrupt US political, military, and financial support for the State of Israel. This gives us unique responsibility, but also unique power, to support the Palestinian people in substantial ways.
Second, that we can work to make it safer for people to publicly show support for Palestinians. Antiracist work of course includes combating antisemitism. The conflation of antizionism with antisemitism both interferes with the ability to address antisemitism and is used to suppress supporters of Palestinian Liberation, such as with state laws targeting divestment.
