Dr. Angela Davis published a book in 2016 titled "Freedom Is a Constant Struggle: Ferguson, Palestine, and the Foundations of a Movement".
Chapter 4, "On Palestine, G4S, and the Prison-Industrial Complex" seems to be the text of a speech she gave in 2013 as part of an event with Dr. Gina Dent. G4S is a global security company that was a successful BDS target, with a major victory in 2016 and full divestment as of June of 2023. I found the speech here:
The occupation would not be possible without the collaboration of the US government.
EDIT:
Rafeef Ziadah’s introduction gives background on BDS and G4S:
Dr Gina Dent's spoke at the same event:
there is so much touched on in 20 minutes:
- a feminist critique of 'expertise' (the tactic of claiming you need to be an expert to talk about Palestine)
- Pinkwashing (claims that Palestinian queers require Israeli intervention to save them)
- are prison and apartheid metaphors in the Palestinian context, or accurate descriptions?
- imprisonment is political
- intersecting legal regimes Palestinians are subjected to
- the positive project of Abolition (what we are trying to build)
- a feminist definition of security
