i managed to get around it because it turned out that you can just do the thing that it was saying you can't do by pressing the "contact support" option

however, presumably because i flashed a patched boot image it isn't recognizing it as the phone I just backed up two hours ago and refuses to offer any option to restore the backup I just made for it

I've probably lost almost everything but media files and downloads. All of my app data, all of my text and call history, my authentication codes. All gone because Google refuses to let me restore a backup I just made, onto the exact same phone I made it from.

Every forum thread on this particular situation ends completely hopelessly. Either no one else on the forum replies or google support remains unhelpful for so long that the backup automatically expires and gets deleted from their servers.

Thank youuuu :( I at least distrusted Google enough to make my own shoddy local backup so we'll see what I was able to save with what limited file access I had at the time
