weezer's debut... i like it. i feel like i like it a lot more than i'd like any other Weezer album (i've only really listened to pinkerton, however. not as big a fan). let's rank it!

my name is Jonas - pretty good introduction. i really like it, even if i still don't know what they're trying to talk about. mmmaybe an 8/10?

no one else - wild, i thought i remembered this one at the back half of the album instead of second in line. oh well. kinda fun, kinda dorky. 7/10 (9/10 if you cut the "eye" out of "my girl's got eyeballs")

the world has turned and left me here - it's at this point i reveal to you, the reader, that i'm doing this all from memory. i don't mind doing it that way, i can remember all the tracks pretty well. i can't remember much more than the title lyric from this one. 6/10 maybe

buddy holly - UH OH 🚨🚨🚨 BANGER ALERT!! i still air guitar to the riff every time. 10/10

undone (sweater song) - TWO BANGERS IN A ROW?? yea 10/10 as well i don't really care about these the final score is what matters

surf wax america - dude this one's fucking great it's so fucking funny, they turn a fucking surf rock bop into a funeral march for no reason it's the best 9/10 (needs more of rivers trying to describe what he thinks a typical 9-5 office worker does)

say it ain't so - honestly? i mean it's pretty good but i dunno. 8/10 matt sharp should've went high on the "wrestle with Jimmy"

in the garage - this one rewired my brain so i say "innn the graaage" every time someone says either half of that sentence i think i have to give it an 8/10 also

holiday - i don't remember this one at all. 6/10 probably

only in dreams - again this one's faint, but i think i liked it better than the other faint ones. 7, maybe 8/10

final score: i mean it's a ⭐9/10. i love how grungy it feels and how that contrasts with rivers being like, the dorkiest guy you can think of. it's the only thing I'll ever think of when someone says weezer, all the later albums are a fundamentally different band to me (Weezer, perhaps. they like that big W)
