the thing about toki pona is that it's such a good choice for an auxiliary language and it wasn't even trying. esperanto's got these weird fuckin sounds and all this grammar and all these words to learn, nobody with other things to do is gonna have the time for that. but you can straight up learn toki pona over a weekend if you're serious about learning it, or spread it out over a week or two. you can become semifluent in a month. and because the words themselves are so broad it doesn't really require any specific cultural context to make sense, only an understanding of the human condition really. and it wasn't even fucking trying, dude. god
