how do i get past the cringe hump? every time i play a game that takes itself with any nonzero amount of seriousness i feel like i can't get invested in it. what's wrong with me diagnose me
i think it mostly goes for games made by larger studios. if its an indie game made by one to a few people thats usually a little better but idk
There's always the possibility that you just happen to be playing games that are kinda pretentious. Indie devs are a lot less likely to make games that feel like they have to prove that "games are high art".
Alternatively, maybe you just don't like it when something feels too serious to you, idk
