every time i hear anything about stranger things these days i always think about hearing that their original idea for a season 2+ was to set it in the next decade (so, the 1990s, then the 2000s, etc) and i think that would genuinely have kept my interest only so i could watch the inevitable scene where one character shows the other linkin park or evanescence a la s1
