🦊currently finding out that apparently most furries see their fursonas as like, a fun costume for roleplay and stuff because they think anthro characters are cute and not like, "I wish that was actually me I wish I had big pointy fox teeth and paws and claws and tail and pointy ears" like, do you guys NOT want to actually just be an animal??? I thought that was just an inherent part of being furry
EDIT TO ADD: people are saying "This is just being therian" and we're like, haha whoops yea that's why were asking, because I guess a lot of furries are fine being a human and just having the fursona as an avatar used to talk to other funny animal appreciators but uh, that's uh, not us
I'm glad people are starting to make a delineation between how much others are into anthro art or animals cause I got repeatedly made to feel gross and uncomfortable when random furries kept telling me I or my sona was hot when it was literally me as a dragon, which is why I haven't used it in a while.
I like dragons, I didn't like that I couldnt just like dragons while being queer and online without being assumed to be part of some wider connected community interested in making their chosen animal the focal point of their life and sexuality. Especially after seeing years and years of furries IN the community being like "lol dragon furry moment" over some of the more insane furry takes online, I felt like I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that I had nothing to do with this community whatsoever as it wasn't any different than all the others.
My point is it's a sore spot and before you go randomly messaging some furry to tell them they're cute or say something lewd maybe make sure you fucking know them first
