Transcribing begins now. Testing. One, two, three? These things never work. My crystalogist says that it's my crystalic resonance. She ALWAYS says that it's my "crystalic resonance." I think it's more that I'm hopeless with these communication devices. Whatever is the point? We can communicate just as well without them. If Atsuyo didn't insist on this record keeping, I wouldn't bother.
Oh, it seems that it is working. Very well.
A lot has changed in the turn of the century - it's a tired cliche that no snow particle falls in the same way as another, but it is true. Since my election to the position of Kristalis two years ago, we have launched our first sublight spacecraft, the ISS Nagayama. The difficulty our scientists faced in allowing our people to merely survive outside of our homeland of Kris, much less to calibrate our crystals to the reaches of deep space, was long thought insurmountable. I, for one, do not know the word "insurmountable."
Oh, for Lasoura's sake, Himichiro, I know I just used it. I am transcribing an important historical document, could you... yes, Himi, I love you too, just... not now, dear... you are intolerable.

Moving on. Discoveries in only the first two years post-launch have been abundant. For centuries, our cynics have prophesied an empty universe, our doom assured by a supposed "heat death" or catastrophic "planetary melt." But already there are signs - signs we are not alone, even near our home star of No'polle A.
As our scientists predicted, one of our neighboring planets was once home to another species, far older than even our historical records can imagine. Nicknaming the planet "Fujiidakado" - "The Way of Immortality" - we were quick to send a colony ship to further investigate. Their discoveries speak for themselves - not only mechanical wonders, but biological life, thought impossible on Kris. It is a miracle. A planet that can sustain even us.

But our community was shocked at how quickly another discovery became apparent, only a neighboring system away from our own. Sentient life, nothing like our own. Our reports on their appearances are shocking and, to many, disturbing - their shapes nothing like what we imagined in our fiction. Their planet, Meteria I, is warm, and green, and filled with unfrozen snow - water. Its bizarre inhabitants fly through the air not at their own will, but on protuberances attached to the sides of their bodies. And they fight, constantly, brutally, their planet an unceasing march of explosions and strange weaponry.
They are so noisy, and yet, until now, they were unheard. So close to us, and yet, we were unaware.

Our scientists rejoiced, and there was much crystalic resonating and holding of hands... yes, Himichiro, dear, I know, I'll mention it... including between myself and my wife. Most Yukionnans are eager to meet our newfound neighbors. But some of our more conservative members warn that they are not like us - they are simpler, warlike. It's doubtful, they say, that they will take us greeting them with open arms.
I disagree. Our home is beautiful, but we have been alone in it. Long have we wondered if anything outside of our home could survive. This is the dream of our people - to greet new life not coldly, but with warmth.
Himichiro, please. I thought that was clever... oh? You thought so too. Haha, you'll make me blush, Himi.
Yes, I think that's enough for today. Transcribing ends now.
...Himi, would you like to do some "crystalic resonating"? I think recent events are worth celebrating, and I must say, I'm feeling very attuned to your formations toni...
It's still on?
